In High school we offer a psychologist and a language support program in Spanish, English.

EDUCATION MODEL

Our goal in secondary school is to provide international guidance and support through an inclusive and global environment.
Our curriculum is based on the highest academic standards enabling students to
confront the real-life challenges.
The Educarte High School program offers students the opportunity to graduate from high school accredited by the MEP.
At Educarte we want our young students to reach their potential, not only intellectually, but in other academic areas comprehensively preparing for the changes and challenges of the 21st century.

SUMMARY OF ACADEMIC PROGRAM

Classroom Projects

Various projects are integrated into the academic curriculum of the school. These provide opportunities for students to highlight and apply their knowledge to real life situations through activities and themes developed by the students themselves. Student self-reflection and personal growth is facilitated during the planning, preparation, service and completion of the program.

English language program

English teachers at Educarte are native speakers. The program focuses on developing the students’ appreciation of literature through reading, writing and speaking, reading different genres (classic and contemporary), the critical and comprehensive writing and conversation based on topics of interest that have meaning for students.

Language and French literature

The student develops a command of the four French language skills of communication: oral communication, written communication, listening and reading comprehension. Cultural competence is also encouraged as literary, geographical and historical aspects of the francophone community.

Spanish language

The Spanish program is based on an integrated curriculum. It promotes oral and written communication and takes into account the lenguage competence of each student. The curriculum is enriched through research and evaluation of current issues, encouraging creativity and critical thinking. The Spanish curriculum follows the guidelines of the Ministry of Education.

Math Program

Instruction methods concentrate on the resolution of real-world mathematical problems to develop student competency. It is a pedagogical approach based on a fundamental constructivist premises, in accordance with the educational policy approved by the MEP.
Our program promotes the development of mathematical thinking using different levels of complexity in mathematical problems, because there is a direct relationship between levels of complexity and opportunities to perform mathematical processes and nurture the progress of mathematical competence. Philosophy to follow in the classroom varies in favor of accentuating significant cognitive activities for students.

The main approach assumes the resolution of mathematical problems in real contexts. This is a pedagogical mediation that takes fundamental constructivists premises, in accordance with the educational policy approved by the MEP. This approach aims to develop student skills related directly to mathematics areas.

Science Program

Students study the world around them, analyzing and learning different scientific themes that promote critical thinking skills.
Our program focuses on developing a creative analytical, and interesting methods to solve everyday problems.

Physical Education and Swimming

Through a balanced range of activities that develops various motor skills in a positive environment, the program emphasizes physical fitness, discipline, creativity, teamwork, social relations, cooperation, trust and many other attributes that students need to succed in a modern and competitive society.
Our students develop skills in different sports: athletics, football, volleyball, basketball, swimming, and others that inspire a healthy and active life.

Art

At Educarte students work on art projects both cooperatively and individually. Students have the opportunity to investigate, identify and discuss issues. provideThey are encouraged to express their views, opinions, and solutions. Students reflect on-and, appreciate the artwork. Of
others as well as express themselves with their own art projects.
The art program offers a distinctive form of learning where to see, feel, hear, think and create combine with different subjects to enrich the process.

Music

Students are offered a broad view of the music world, giving them the opportunity to express themselves in different ways. The program combines both artistic and academic, characteristics of music, as they explore the structure of language and its broad musical spectrum.

Spanish as a second language

Spanish as a Second Language provides students with differentiated learning opportunities and development of the four main language skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. The course includes elements that facilitate immersion in the Costa Rican culture.

Science Lab

An innovative solution for learning science that lives up to the true meaning of a Lab, Hands-on experimentation, innovation and experience form the key to learning.
